Iowa is a beautiful place, not nearly so flat or unremitting as people imagine, and in the dark winters and the blue-white summers one finds oneself with plenty of time to take out books from the library and read them. I was in a poetry program there, so some of my reading was â€Å"coursework†; but since the program was a creative one, almost anything could count as inspiration, and I tended to follow my nose. One day, in my second year, a friend of mine gave me a collection of William Butler Yeats’s poetry—a pretty, goldenrod paperback, with Yeats pictured prominently on the front. Like some other people in Iowa, I had read W.B.Y. in high school and in college, only really the poems in anthologies: â€Å"The Second Coming,† which includes the line â€Å"Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold†; â€Å"The Lake Isle of Innisfree† (that of the â€Å"bee-loud glade†); and maybe a couple more. My familiarity with his work was minimal, but I did at least understand that Yeats—like Auden (whose name I once pronounced â€Å"Ow-den†) and someone named â€Å"Lord Tennyson†Ã¢â‚¬â€was a person worth knowing about. I thought I would take a few moments in this post to discuss one of the first Yeats poems I read during my second-year winter in Iowa City. It’s called â€Å"The Balloon of the Mind,† and is reprinted in its entirety at the top. Because the poem is short, it seems perfectly blog-able; and because it’s almost dizzyingly, nearly infinitely wonderful in its ramifications, it makes for a good introduction to a longer conversation about the study of literature, as well as an example of how studying poetry with a creative writing tutor can help your essay writing more broadly. If someone were to hand me this poem and call it something else—say, a â€Å"blarg†Ã¢â‚¬â€and ask me to make sense of it—and if I had never seen or heard of one of these blargs before—I would probably start with a few observations about its appearance. It consists of four lines, and the ends of the lines have some relationship to one another: more specifically, the first and the fourth, and the middle two, sound similar (bid / shed; mind / wind). One could call that relationship â€Å"rhyme.† But bid doesn’t really rhyme with shed—it almost rhymes with it. Bed and shed would rhyme, but of course Yeats couldn’t ask his hands to do what they’re bed, and at any rate, the â€Å"almost rhymeyness† of bid and shed is, in a sense, more interesting—it points us toward the rhyme, while also making clear to the reader that the rhyme isn’t really present. Only its ghost is. Mind and wind are a variation on â€Å"almost rhymeyness.† Here, mind and wind look as though they ought to rhyme, but the words (owing to idiosyncratic English pronunciation) don’t actually rhyme. It’s a bit of a fake-out, because in this pair, as in bid/shed, the reader expects a rhyme and comes away with something not quite the same—same-like, if one may use the phrase. English teachers would call the bid/shed pair a â€Å"slant† or â€Å"half† rhyme, and the latter a â€Å"sight rhyme.† Yeats can do both. The other blarg-feature I’d probably identify would be the length of the lines: namely, the fact that they appear about the same length (the same-like length). When I read the poem aloud, I also find something interesting: HANDS, DO what you’re BID; BRING the baLLOON of the MIND that BEllies and DRAGS in the WIND INto its NArrow SHED. Each line contains three natural stresses and a number of â€Å"unstressed† portions that aren’t exactly fixed. Like the slant and sight rhymes, Yeats has inserted something like a â€Å"meter† (the word one uses to describe a blarg’s alternation of stresses) without overwhelming the piece with a ticking clock (there are, however, other blargs of his, and other blargs generally, that do have very fixed, starchy meters—ba DUM ba DUM ba DUM—and employ them brilliantly). Despite some herky-jerk moments here and there, this little blarg has three strong DUMs per line—and one of those stresses always comes in the line’s last word. Then, after doing all this, I might check out what the blarg actually says, and how it goes about saying it. It begins with an address to an inanimate object (some English teachers would call this an apostrophe, although others would quibble, saying that apostrophe is directed to absent persons or objects distinguishable from the speaker; and the hands above, â€Å"doing what they’re bid,† are certainly a part of Yeats). The first line is a command: â€Å"Hey, hands: listen up; do what I say.† The second part of the blarg, the final three lines, are the actual order, and they’re transmitted as an image, or a single, concrete picture, conjured in language, but assembled visually in the mind. And the image also happens to be a metaphor, or direct comparison, since Yeats appears to be saying that the mind is a balloon. Why a balloon? And what does this image-metaphor mean? That seems like a major component of the blarg’s beauty, as it is difficult to reduce the image and the metaphor to easy substitutes—a literary scholar would say the poem is â€Å"irreducible,† and cannot be expressed in paraphrased form. But another literary scholar might argue that that’s exactly what we’re doing anyway when we read a poem: we’re translating it into the complex network of our own ideas about writing, our own experiences in the world. So, with that in mind, I might venture to say that the poem encapsulates the feeling I have whenever I want to take an idea, or something larger than language, more cumbrous than language, and shove it into the â€Å"narrow shed† of—well, expression, or at least of organized thought. What Yeats seems to say, in this blarg—in part—is that ideas like to â€Å"belly and drag in the wind† for a while, as we at tempt to gather them, or organize them. It’s the pulling â€Å"into the narrow shed,† done with the hands (the things that write, after all) that makes the ideas real. But in making them real, we also lose what makes them ideas: their unruliness, their â€Å"bellying and dragging† that’s so exciting in the first place. There you have it: a few ideas on why I love, or how I go about appreciating, this poem of Yeats’s. Poem, now, not blarg—but I do think it’s an interesting exercise to remove the label â€Å"poem† from works so clearly identifiable as such: produced by canonized writers, written in lineated patterns, containing rhyme and other â€Å"poetic devices.† That’s why when I do English tutoring in Boston, I often involve poetry in my 1 on 1 tutoring sessions. It broadens us, and sharpens, too. There’s a whole technical language of criticism out there, and some of it’s useful, but some of it can obscure the things we already know about the works we read. That’s what I love about Yeats, even when he gives us only four lines: he’s also giving us all the information we need to make a great world of meaning. ;

Religion is a misrepresentation of the Christian perspective where men decide to use works and deeds to enter Heaven. Many government officials back in Jesus’ time aggressively took the message of God to turn into a confusing issue that would separate the Christian faith into different denominations. The denominations consider the Christian faith with their own perspective on controversial doctrines, such as Baptism, speaking in tongues, demon possession, or celebrating certain holidays. Our society is functioned where Christians become sensitive about different topics, leaving the secular society to ignore them. One controversial doctrine is the ability to speak in tongues. To my understanding, Paul reminded the church in Corinth that this was a gift from the Holy Spirit (Act 2, 1 Corinthians 12:10). However, most Christians criticize their counterparts for not using this gift from God, assuming that they will not go to Heaven. The problem with this assumption is that it is limiting one task the Holy Spirit does; if I am not mistaken, Paul mentioned nine gifts of the Holy Spirit. They are prophesying, wisdom vocabulary, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, discerning spirits; the last two are speaking and interpreting tongues (1 Corinthians 12). Literature Review The literature starts with the concept of job satisfaction that has been put forward by researching various past literatures. Job satisfaction is said to be the cognitive emotion that employees hold for their job (Wang, Tsai and Tsai 2014). It is the benefit that they get from fulfillment of expectation that they wanted from the job. Moreover, there are various factors such a supervisors, tasks, training, rewards, remuneration and others that impacts the job satisfaction level of an employee (Fu and Deshpande 2014). However, there has been certain literature that stated the reason behind importance of job satisfaction among the hospitality industry. It has been found that employees in the hospitality industry seek satisfaction from the organization they work because they spend maximum of their time in the organization (Zopiatis et al. 2014). It has been shown that there is a strong relationship existing between the employees job satisfaction and the performance of the company because a satisfied employee will automatically serve their best for the organization. Various theories have been used to show the role of motivation in providing job satisfaction. First theory is provided by Herzberg two factor theories. Herzberg showed that there are two factors that influence the job satisfaction such as motivation and hygiene (Shani et al. 2014). Hygiene is the factors which help the employees to enter the organization, on the other hand motivation is the factor that helps in holding the employee to stay back in the organization and perform well (Lee, Back and Chan 2015). In the absence of these factors in the hospitality industry, employees in the organization will feel a strong sense of dissatisfaction. The next strategy that was evident in the literature was the Maslows Hierarchy of Needs that followed certain levels that an organization has to follow in order to satisfy their workers and keep them in the business. It is a type of motivational theory in which it can be seen that there are five categories that a human faces in a workplace and in order to motivate them to give their best in their production (McPhail et al. 2015). The third place where the literature followed is the factors that affect job satisfaction in the hospitality industry particularly. The main factors that have been found from the past literatures are working condition, environment, reward and recognition of the workers and others. These factors are the most crucial for any kind of business (McPhail et al. 2015). Hospitality industry hugely depends on training their staffs for better service. Thus, losing staffs or increasing employee turnovers leads to a great loss for the company (Pan 2015). Hence this industry faces the maximum pressure of offering job satisfaction to their staffs. It has been stated by Crawford et al. (2014) that reward and recognition is the best way companies can create an impact on their staffs by making them feel important in the organization. It has also been evident that offering appreciation to the workers for their work increases the level of satisfaction among them. However, the literature has also discus sed about certain factors that demotivate the workers. One being the responsibility that are given; they are not fully allowed to make their own decisions (Namasivayam, Guchait and Lei 2014). However, company can take up strategies to improve their job satisfaction level such as personal motivation programs; organizing reward and recognition programs for the employee will help the organization to manage their employee turnover rates. Literature Gaps and opportunities The literature has failed to give a detailed analysis about the ways companies can deal with the problem of employ satisfaction or increase employee satisfaction level. There has been much said about the importance of job satisfaction among the employees and the impact this has on the business. However, there are not much said about the ways a company can deal when they are faced with such challenges and increased employee turnover. Secondly, the literature also failed to show the possibility of policies that the company can design while planning their strategies that could have a positive and equal impact on the employees. This is an important factor that has been ignored as it will be easy for the company to follow same strategy for every employee in the company. Moreover, the literature also failed to show the benefit that the hospitality industry faces after offering satisfaction to their employees in the workplace. Employee satisfaction has different type of benefits for different types of industry. Thus it would have been clear about the benefits employee satisfaction offers to this industry. This would have further helped and motivated the management to take necessary steps towards this, to get the maximum benefit. The gap that has been identified in the literature has the opportunity of offering the company a better perspective to look in for improving the job satisfaction level among the employees. Moreover, a policy decision that the company will make will make their process very easy and less complicated. Thus, fulfilling the gaps will offer opportunity to the organization to solve the entire problem the employees have from their employers. However, for collecting data from survey method it is necessary to select a sample from the population (Smith 2015). The sample will be such that will define the whole population. Thus, for the purpose the company will choose a sample using simple random sampling method. The researcher will choose ten hotels in a region from among all other hotels. This will require that the researcher interact with some of the hospitality companies such as hotels of a particular area to collect the data. The researcher will formulate a questionnaire for the survey which will include both close ended and open ended questions. The responses collected from the people on these questions will be analyzed to determine the importance of job satisfaction on the hospitality industry (Bernard 2017). It will also help the researcher to know the job satisfaction strategies these companies are using for their employees. Data Collection Data collection technique will be done with the help of primary research. This will involve collecting raw data from the employees and manager of the hotels that will be chosen for the research. The questionnaires will be provided to the employees of the company through internet by mailing them. The users will be asked independent questions from the participants. Managers will be asked open ended questions and employees will be asked close ended questions. This is because manager will be able to give a detail analysis of the scenario going in the company and the policy they follow (Bryman and Bell 2015). The close ended questions on the other hand will be easier for the employees to answer by choosing just one answer. However, the close ended questions will be more than the open ended questions. The questions will be about the policy that the company follow to satisfy the employees, the turnover rate of company, the satisfaction level of the employees, the facilities the employees are receiving from the company and others. The users will be asked to choose the option they want. The respondents will be asked to give their responses independently without getting influenced by anyone else (Sekaran and Bougie 2016). This will help the researcher collect a error-free result and analysis. Research analysis The research analysis will be done in a quantitative manner which will include a descriptive analysis of the collected data. Descriptive analysis is the easiest way to explain everything in details and it is the easiest analysis that the readers will understand when they read it. Little did he know that the ball given to the umpire before the game which cost just nine dollars and now coming at him was going to be worth a little over 2.7 million dollars in seconds. Mark McGwire is truly a reason why a person can make money, gain notoriety and have fun while collecting memorabilia. Making money through regular jobs is one thing, making money by collecting sports memorabilia is entirely another. If one wants to make money collecting sports memorabilia, one has to be patient because collecting memorabilia is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Two main reasons why the value of sports memorabilia increases are the passage of time and the achievements of the athletes. One way to get these items before they increase in value is to attend free autograph signing sessions. Another way for one to make money is to write to an athlete and get something signed for free, then turn around and sell it. One example of this is Vince DeAngello who started this process when only a kid and now owns a very successful sports memorabilia shop. I have personally received memorabilia through letters to athletes; I have seen their value rise, then I have sold them to a sports memorabilia shop for a profit. One of the easiest ways to make money by collecting memorabilia is to follow rookies and get as much signed by them as you can. This is very convenient because rookies do not usually charge for their signatures. Also, as a first year player, rookies are more eager to sign autographs so they can make a favorable first impression. Not only can one make money by collecting sports memorabilia but one can also be seen as a hero in the eyes of the public. By collecting memorabilia, one can gain public recognition also. For example, the person who bought Mark McGwires seventieth homerun ball for $2.7 million certainly gained public recognition. Anyone who donates a piece of his or her collection of memorabilia to a sports hall of fame such as the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, will receive a great deal of public acclaim. Such recognition was given to the Rotary club who last year donated George Bretts pine tar bat to the Rockhurst Spectacular. The retired Royals reliever Jeff Montgomery is also known as a great benefactor to many charitable organizations. Con sidered a hero to many young children, Cal Ripken Jr. is known for his willingness to sign as many autographs as are requested both before and after games. Some people gain public notoriety by having memorabilia within their homes or business. I have gained a personal reputation for the amount of memorabilia I have in my house. Former baseball star Danny Jackson, owner of the Incredibowl draws people to his business not only to bowl, but also to gaze at his vast collection of sports memorabilia. With all of this money and fame, we often forget how fun, collecting memorabilia can be. The fun of collecting sports memorabilia can take many ways, shapes and forms. It is fun to meet star athletes and get autographs to add to your collection. One can also enjoy trading and collecting with people of similar interests. Not only does this fun come by trading, but also by watching your investment rise. My friend Brad Long was fortunate enough six years ago to invest $500 in a signed Mark McGw ire jersey, which now is worth several thousands. I have also been privileged to watch my Joe Montana football go up in value. Sports memorabilia has brought many great hours of pleasure to my life, and others. I have had fun decorating rooms of my house with sports history. Project managers should be political sensitive it means that they should have the ability to sense interpersonal conflicts earlier then that generates among the project team. The project manager also has responsibility to manage the vendor activities, deliverables and schedule while establishing a foundation for the ongoing partnership between the vendor and the organization. Effective project management involves communicating both upward and downward within the organization in order to understand the business concerns, gain acceptance of the pending changes and gain project buy-in and support for the teams activities. The project that is undertaken is assessed through various stages some of the important criteria for selecting the project are as follows based on Souder (1973) 1. Realism – The project to be embark on should be based on the reality of the manager’s decision and include the numerous objective of both the firm and its manager. It should also take into account the various factors like the project risk, technical risk of performance, cost, time and factors considering the customer rejection. 2. Capability – The decision made should be sophisticate enough to deal with multiple time periods, consider various situations like the micro and macro economic factors of the organization. 3. Flexibility – The project should be flexible enough to adjust as per the market change. It should also consider the firm’s environment in which it operates its primary business or the defined objectives of the firm. 4. Ease of Use – The project should be realistically convenient, it should not take a long time to execute, should be easy to implement and understand. It should also consider the resources that are readily available with the firm and it should not require special interpretation or equipment. 5. Cost – This is among the most important factors to be consider, the project selected should be profitable to both, the client and the firm. It should not require special equipment, human resource, which are in use for the current project and not useful after the completion of the project. Good vibration is a whimsical, which is an animated tale tells about the community responsibility and the cost of being complacent. This film is more focused on the community responsibility; there is the same issue which is found here about the organizations and communities. This film has presented a scenario where the whole employees of an organization make fun of the helpless individuals as these individuals are getting hurt tripping on the loose brick in the sidewalk. After a while several people get injured and an elderly gentleman came walking down the sidewalk. After that an employee opened up the window to warn the elderly gentleman and showed him he caution sign so he wont get injured. A specific problem of this film would be that instead of someone taking the charge to solve the issue, everyone planned to laugh on the individuals who were getting hurt through the loose brick. There are many organization which deals with the same kind of personalities. There are times when an individual found a problem in the organization, but instead of solving that the one just ignores the issue and make fun of that. The main problem with such issues is, they get ignored for a very long time and then become incurable and cause big loss to the organizations and people associated with it. External Social Pressures and Organizational Ethics The factor external social factor plays an important role in influencing the organizational ethics. At a time there would be many stakeholders and most of the time their interests overlap. Stakeholders include employees, customers, shareholders, and communities. Enron for a general example created a series of off-the books partnership which were used to hide the Enrons massive amount of debt and increase its share prices. This attempt was made to attract new share investors and to maintain the present stakeholders (Trevino and Nelson, 2006). If the outside world would know the financial situation of Enrons condition, then he would have been gone very down so quickly. Enron was trying to get time to bring the business afloat. This is the one major example which reflects how external social pressure would force the organization to make such steps normally. If the more stakeholders are involved within the organization then, there would be more chance of having overlapping interests between stakeholders. Organizational and Personal Decisions There are many issues which can take place within an organization, internally and externally. There are some major issues which can force an organization to discard their ethical and legal responsibilities in an attempt to save their organization. There are times when organization considers these decisions as the best available option to make implemented till the time the organization dont understand how serious and wrong these decisions were. or an example the Enron scandal was a case where the employees was aware about the processes which include illegal and unethical activities in the organization, but none of them took a step to stop these activities to be happened. The short film has talked about this case earlier. When the problem gets exploded everyone took a side to save themselves. at many times an organization need to understand what can be the best option for everyone involved in the organization which would be legally and illegally, rather than the organizations financial status. In the case of Enron it would be better if the organization published their financial status instead of hiding it for so long as they did. Through this attempt the organization hurt many individuals directly and indirectly to fill their bankruptcy. Relationship between Legal and Ethical Issues Most of the time there is a relation between the legal and ethical issues. As there are some acts, sometimes which can be unethical and that would also be illegal at the same time. As the film mentioned in its cenario, that people were laughing at the individuals who was getting hurt through the loose brick, instead of solving that problem. There is a ethical issue in this particular scenario but not a legal issue. The people should fix up the problem through putting a sign board over there. This particular scene is not having the illegal act but i strongly believe that it was the ethical responsibility of employees to fix that problem. Conclusion This particular short film portrayed that, what can happen within an organization if none of the employee’s steps up and takes action. The old saying goes, â€Å"One bad apple can ruin the bunch. † The same can be said with ethical and legal responsibilities within an organization. Although the external social pressures may influence the organizational ethics, the organization needs to maintain their legal and ethical standards for the good of society and the growth of the organization as a whole. Organizational and personal decisions are also influenced by organizational issues. A fact which is legal does not necessarily mean that it is ethical as well.

The Pearl John Steinbeck Kino, is a poor Indian fisherman who lives on the Gulf of California with his wife Juana and baby son Coyotito. They are very poor but happy family. When he finds the â€Å"pearl of the world† he believes that wonderful things will come from selling it. As he tries to sell the pearl he realizes that the local businessmen will cheat him and decides to travel to sell it. When it is realized that Kino has murdered the man who tried to steal his prize possession the family is forced to run from their village. Trackers are sent to find them and, in desperation and rage Kino kills the men, not realizing that their gunfire has killed his son. The pearl was supposed to bring him happiness and money but instead it brings death and evil. In spite of being poor, Kino is happy,...
